Staff Team

The Chief Executive Officer of New Life Counselling oversees the operations of the organisation and is responsible for the strategic planning of the organisation.  She is supported by a team of Senior Managers who have responsibility for Clinical Services, Support Services, Development, Fundraising and Public Relations.  These four Senior Managers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and bring a wide variety of skills to the organisation.

Karen Collins-Neill, Chief Executive

Karen joined New Life Counselling in August 2008 as the CEO having worked for 5 years in the public sector and 6 in the voluntary youth sector.  She has an MBA, Post Graduate Certificate in Social Policy, Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Studies in Education and BA (Hons) in Modern History & Politics.  She has significant experience in strategic planning, programme development and resource & budget management.

New Life Counselling - Joanne Larkin

 

Joanne Larkin, Support Services Manager

Joanne is a graduate of the Institute of Accounting Technicians for Ireland and holds a Diploma in Management.  She is ECDL and RSA qualified and has 6 GCSE’s.  She also has Sage Line 50 & Payroll experience and an advanced GNVQ in Health and Social Care (Dist).  She has 10 years of clerical experience and 7 years experience within finance and fundraising.  She is an accredited ISO Auditor Joanne joined New Life Counselling in December 1999.

New Life Counselling - Alison Hogg

Alison Hogg, Therapeutic Services Manager

Alison joined New Life Counselling in Dec 2008.  She has been an accredited counsellor with BACP since 2000.  Alison has a BA (Hons) in Social Science, BACP Accredited Diploma in counselling, Diploma in Inner Child Therapy and has completed studies in  Systemic/family therapy to Intermediate level at Queens University.   Alison has 13 years clinical practice in various settings including a GP surgery, Well-woman clinic, Survivors of sexual abuse, probation clients, young people and addictions.  She also has experience of working within health and social services and Barnardos in Manchester.  Her interest in counselling grew from being a volunteer on a telephone helpline approx 15 years ago.
New Life Counselling - Fran Renwick

Fran Renwick, Development Manager

Fran Renwick has been a UKCP registered psychotherapist since 1997.  She began her formal study of psychology as an undergraduate in South Africa, and was awarded a PhD by the University of Liverpool in 2004 for her investigation of the impact of a school based therapeutic programme. She pursued a simultaneous path of professional development through the study of, among others, person-centred counselling, hypno-psychotherapy, and Jungian based sandplay therapy. While lecturing at Liverpool University, she became involved in developing and teaching a number of modules in counselling and counselling skills for young people, and in 2003 developed a four year training programme for child and adolescent psychotherapists under the aegis of a UKCP training organisation. In 2004 she joined the UKCP Psychotherapy with Children Committee, where she has been involved in the development of the Standards of Education and Training for work with children and young people. She served on the UKCP board of trustees from Sept 2007 to Dec 2009, where she was awarded a certificate of recognition for her service to UKCP and to psychotherapy. She was recently elected vice chair of the re-named Child Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy with Children Committee.  Fran continues to practice as a psychotherapist with both children and adults, as well as offering supervision to a number of counsellors and psychotherapists working with children and young people.  She moved to Ireland in January 2008, and joined New Life Counselling in January 2009.

New Life Counselling - Lindsay Whitten

 

Lindsay Whitten (Fundraising & PR Manager)

Since graduating in 1994 with her BA (Hons) Lindsay has worked in the voluntary sector having worked with Bryson House, ChildLine NI, Action Cancer, NI Cancer Fund for Children and most recently Contact Youth Counselling.  Her experience is in administration, fundraising, human resources, facilities management, IT and finance.  She has completed a Diploma in Management through the Chartered Management Institute.  Lindsay began working with New Life Counselling in October 2009 Fundraising and PR Manager.

New Life Counselling - Biggi Hofmann

 

Biggi Hofmann, Adult Project Officer

Biggi joined New Life in March 2002. She has a BSc in Sociology, a Diploma in Combined Social & Behavioural Sciences, a Diploma in Counselling, an Advanced Diploma in Psychodrama Psychotherapy, and a Diploma in Creative Supervision. She has 11 years clinical practice, her approach is humanistic integrative with an emphasis on creativity.

Gail Stewart, Child & Family Project Officer

Gail is the Child and Family Project Officer.  She has a BA Hons in Fine and Applied Arts and an MSC in Art Therapy. Previous experience includes working as an early intervention Therapist for Barnardos with children with Autism, Family support work and running community Arts Programmes.  Gail is the Vice Chair person of NIGAT. She joined New Life Counselling in November 2006 as a child counsellor and moved into the Project Officer role in October 2008.

New Life Counselling - Cordula Bellin

 

Cordula Bellin, Volunteer Co-ordinator

Cordula has a degree in Psychology, and trained as a counsellor, completing the Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Post Qualifying Certificate in Working with Children and Young People, a level 3 qualification in Advanced Group Facilitation and Conflict Management, and introductory Gestalt Training.  Her previous experience includes working for Contact Youth, ChildLine, Belfast Trust and developing Peer Education Projects.  She took up the role of Volunteer Co-ordinator in September 2009.

Grainne has nine years (post qualification) supervised practice in counselling. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and a Certificate in Counselling. Grainne joined New Life Couneslling in September 09.

Leona Quinn, Team Leader ICSS South

Leona has a BSc in Psychology, Diploma in Counselling and Diploma in Cognitive Therapy.  She has 10 years of supervised practice and is an accredited member of the BACP.

New Life Counselling - Stephanie Wethers

Stephanie Wethers, Team Leader ICSS East

Stephanie joined New Life Counselling in September 2009 having previously worked for Contact Youth delivering schools counselling for 2 years, prior to that working independently delivering counselling in schools for the Southern Education and Library Board. Stephanie has also enjoyed working in Community Counselling, Youth work and the Health Service.  She holds a diploma in Person Centred Counselling and qualified as a Sexual Health Educator in 2004 through the Open College Network.
